A Smarter Way to Treat Stubborn Pigmentation

Melasma Repair Method™

Our customized Pico protocol safely targets hormonally-driven melasma and pigmentation—without triggering inflammation or rebound darkening.

What Is It?

Melasma is one of the most stubborn skin conditions, often worsened by heat and aggressive lasers. Our Melasma Repair Method™ is a non-ablative, layered Pico treatment created to fade pigment gently and effectively while minimizing risk of rebound hyperpigmentation.

We use dual-depth Pico laser technology: collimated toning to disperse surface pigment and fractionated MLA to reach deeper dermal pigment while stimulating collagen. This approach ensures safe, controlled results across all skin tones—even those prone to flare-ups.

What Are The Benefits?

  • Fades hormonally-driven melasma and deep pigmentation
  • Reduces risk of rebound pigmentation
  • Brightens and evens skin tone
  • Stimulates collagen for smoother texture
  • Safe for all skin tones, no downtime

Who Is It For?

Designed for:

  • Patients with hormonally-driven melasma
  • Stubborn pigmentation resistant to other treatments
  • Medium to deep skin tones at risk with heat-based lasers
  • Clients seeking safe, long-term pigment management

Frequently Asked Questions

01
What is the Melasma Repair Method and how does it work?

The Melasma Repair Method is Scrubd’s signature laser protocol created to safely manage melasma — one of the most stubborn and frustrating pigment conditions. Using our state-of-the-art Pico laser technology, we deliver ultra-fast light pulses that gently break up pigment clusters without overheating the skin. Unlike traditional treatments that can worsen melasma, this method is designed to be safe for all skin tones and helps improve skin clarity while supporting collagen production for overall skin health.

02
What can I expect during the treatment?

Your provider will start by cleansing your skin and protecting your eyes with goggles. The Pico laser handpiece is then passed across the treatment areas, delivering quick pulses of light. You may feel a gentle “snapping” sensation, but most patients find it very tolerable. The entire session typically takes 30–40 minutes.

03
What is the downtime and aftercare like?

There is little to no downtime with this treatment. Some patients experience temporary redness or darkening of pigmentation patches that will naturally fade and flake over the next several days.
Aftercare is crucial with melasma: you’ll need to wear daily SPF, avoid direct heat and sun exposure for the first 48 hours, and stick with a supportive skincare regimen recommended by your provider to maintain results.

04
What concerns does the Melasma Repair Method treat?

This treatment is crafted specifically for melasma and hormonal pigmentation, whether it’s on the cheeks, forehead, or upper lip. It also improves sun damage, uneven skin tone, and dullness, helping patients achieve a more even and radiant complexion when other options haven’t worked.

05
Does the Melasma Repair Method hurt?

Discomfort is minimal. Most patients compare it to a light rubber-band snap or tingling on the skin. Because the energy is so fast and gentle, numbing is usually not required, though it can be applied if you are sensitive.

06
When will I see results and how long do they last?

While you may notice brighter skin after just one session, melasma typically requires a series of treatments for the best improvement. Because melasma is a chronic condition that can be triggered by hormones and sun, ongoing maintenance treatments and medical-grade skincare are recommended. With consistency, patients see long-lasting improvement and much better control over their pigmentation.
